Despite reports that Spears had donned a hairpiece for her Late Show With David Letterman appearance on November 6 2006, the star's new hairdo was the work of celebrity colourist Rita Hazan. Hazan explains, "It took me more than five hours to fine-tune her color it's now a golden blonde with platinum highlights." After getting new color, Spears also got a new cut from Nelson Vercher, the head stylist at Hazan's New York City salon. He says, "Britney knew she wanted to do something based on a bob shape, but I wanted to give her a look that was all her own." Hazan, whose clients include Simpson, Jennifer Lopez and Avril Lavigne, insists Spears wasn't nervous while undergoing her transformation. She adds, "She was very trusting.
