Ashlee Simpson Approves of John Mayer Relationship with Jessica

Ashlee Simpson Gives a Thumbs Up To Simpson and Mayer Romance

Not that they needed Ashlee Simpson's approval but eight months into their relationship, Ashlee Simpson has given her approval of John Mayer relationship with Ashlee's older sibling Jessica Simpson. "Ashlee loves John," a friend of Ashlee's tells People Magazine in its new issue. "She thinks he is great for her. More importantly, Jess is happy." Apparently Ashlee isn't the only one positive about their relationship. Another friend of Ashlee's added John seems very inspired with love. Just back from a romantic vacation in Rome, Italy, the couple have been spotted around Los Angeles sharing kisses over lunch, having leisurely strolls while holding hands and cuddling at a James Morrison concert.

On March 20, 2007 Jessica Simpson and John Mayer were happily snapping pictures with fans at a musical performance of Mayer's bandmate David Ryan Harris at the Hotel Cafe just as the couple had done last month at Bunkers in Minneapolis after Mayer's concert. John and Jessica were also spotted at Parc restaurant having cocktails with Ashlee,22, and a patron there said "They were holding hands and laughing constantly, Jessica looks really comfortable with him." Friends of Jessica say she is relishing this low-key romance compared to her very publicized marriage with Nick Lachey.

"When she was with Nick, she was really under her family's thumb," says Jessica's friend. "This is a relationship that is all hers." Especially with father Joe Simpson who proposed the popular Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica show with the world watching their private lives. Another friend of Jessica, Christina Milian, who was in Simpson's A Public Affair video adds: "Clearly this is a relationship that's not for the cameras. It's not about celebrity. It seems like they truly have an attraction to each other, and they're both clearly very talented as well."
