Jessica Simpson has finally delivered the
minivan she donated to the Mexican orphanage on Sunday, March 25. Jessica took time out of her busy schedule to personally deliver the minivan and hand the keys over to Mama Lupita who runs the orphanage and to meet some of the orphanages children. She won a Chrysler Crossfire sports car last year on MTV's Video Music Awards and had it exchanged for a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country so it could be donated to the Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
Locals surrounded
Jessica Simpson, 26, when she drove the white 2007 Chrysler Minivan through the gates of the orphanage and exploded with cheer as she handed the keys to Mama Lupita. "The kids were cheering when she pulled up," Simpson's representative stated. "They surrounded the car and were so excited to see her. They kept saying, 'Muchas gracias! Muchas gracias!' A few of them spoke English and said, 'We love you, Jessica!'" Mama Lupita gave Jessica a big hug. She doesn't speak very good English but tried her best to communicate and show her appreciation.
Jessica said, "I'm so honored and happy to be able to help." The children were anxious to give Jessica gifts they had made for her that included a beaded necklace and an engraved plaque with a photo of the orphanages children. As a band played and the crowd danced Simpson said, "What an amazing surprise!"
Tina Simpson traveled to Mexico with Jessica to deliver the minivan.
Joe Simpson stayed home in Los Angeles. Mama Lupita said the van the orphanage did have broke down last year and an old truck she borrowed from a friend broke down also, leaving the orphanage with no transportation. The Town and Country minivan includes a built in DVD player to keep the kids busy as their driving around.
