"Angels" is the final single release from Jessica Simpson's In This Skin album. Released in 2004, "Angels" is a cover of a song originally written and performed by Robbie Williams during the late 90's. Jessica's version of the song never made it onto Billboard's top 100, though it did rank on the US Top 40 and reached number six on the US Bubbling Under Hot Singles.
The music video for "Angels" showcases Jessica Simpson's magnificent vocal talent. The video begins with Jessica singing to an empty audience in a vast auditorium. All alone, she walks across the empty stage, stepping barefoot over the long-stemmed white roses scattering the floor. She continues to contemplate as she prepares for her performance, applying lipstick in front of an antique mirror. The video continues to cut between the empty auditorium rehearsal and the dressing room. In between these scenes, Jessica is seen dressed for her performance, nervously climbing the stairs leading to the roof.
As the video closes, Jessica is high above the city on a rooftop surrounded by a full symphonic orchestra. After a short instrumental interlude, Simpson makes full use of her beautiful voice, singing to the world from the rooftop stage.
