The fourth album released by famed pop star Jessica Simpson was the late 2004 release, Rejoyce: The Christmas Album. The album, Simpson's only holiday collection to date, includes an original song featuring Jessica's former husband, Nick Lachey, along with ten traditional Christmas favorites. The traditional French carol, "O Holy Night," is included on both the full length release album as well as a promotional CD, Limited Edition Christmas Collection by Jessica Simpson.
"O Holy Night" was composed by Adolphe Adam and written by amateur French poet, Placide Cappeau, in 1847. Only eight years later, the song was translated into English by John Sullivan Dwight, a Unitarian minister. "O Holy Night" is also rumored to have been the first musical work to be broadcast over the radio on Christmas eve in the year 1906.
Jessica Simpson's version of the popular Christmas carol is featured in a promotional video released by Columbia Records. The video is very simple, using only one scene throughout the entire song. Jessica sings into a solo standing microphone with her back to a beautiful star-lit night sky. She is wearing a simple, but elegant, white and black dress along with sparkling diamond jewelry. The director also includes a close-up look at Simpson's shiny wedding ring set.
