The third release from Jessica Simpson's #2 ranking album, In this Skin, is "Take My Breath Away". The single is a remake of the popular eighties hit of the same name performed by Berlin. Jessica's cover of the song that was featured in the award winning movie "Top Gun" was released in 2004 and made top ten ranking in US top forty charts.
The "Take My Breath Away" music video is set in a dry, dusty desert. Jessica drives alone down a lonely road before stopping to fill up with gas and quench her thirst. Simpson then walks into a diner where she reminisces about her lover as she watches the other couples in the restaurant. The music video ends as Jessica leaves the diner and drives away in her sleek black corvette.
This video spotlights the sweet sounds of Simpson's voice in this slow paced love ballad. Jessica chose to cover the Berlin hit because of the song's sentimental involvement in her relationship with husband, Nick Lachey. The single was featured on the popular Now! compilation series as part of the Now That's What I Call Music, volume 16 and the dance remix ranked in the top 10 club hits.
