These Boots are Made for Walkin' is perhaps the most well known Jessica Simpson video. The song was originally recorded in 1966 by Nancy Sinatra. Jessica recorded the song in 2005 as part of The Dukes of Hazzard soundtrack. Many of the lyrics were rewritten by Jessica herself, although she did not receive songwriting credit. The video received a large amount of media attention, not only for its tie in with The Dukes of Hazzard movie, but also because of the sexually suggestive scenes. Jessica admitted to going on the South Beach diet in order to get her body in shape for the video. The suggestive images caused the video to be banned in Venezuela, India, and almost all Northern African and Middle Eastern countries.
In the video, Jessica appears as the character Daisy Duke. Jessica is seen climbing out of the famous Dukes of Hazzard car in the opening video sequences. She flirts with patrons at a bar, sings with Willie Nelson, and square dances. Towards the end of the video, Jessica appears in a small pink bikini, and washes the General Lee car. Brett Ratner directed the video. He also directed Jessica's A Public Affair video in 2006.
