"Where You Are", the second single released by Jessica Simpson, was most famous for being the first duet between Simpson and then boyfriend, Nick Lachey, to be professionally recorded. The song from Simpson's debut album, Sweet Kisses, peaked at number 62 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and came in at number 22 on Top 40 Mainstream charts. The song was also part of the movie soundtrack for the 2000 romantic comedy, Here On Earth.
The music video for "Where You Are" was directed by Kevin Bray and features scenes from the movie Here On Earth. The video begins with Jessica standing outside beneath a few large trees with Nick standing in the shadows behind her. It then cuts to a scene from the movie inside a diner. Simpson sits in a booth alone, watching the couple say hello. At the same time, she is imagining that her lover is with her, holding her in the wooded scene.
As the video progresses, it continues to switch between various movie scenes involving the starring couple and scenes between Jessica and Nick. At the end of the song, Jessica and Nick are both sitting in the diner used in the movie, then Nick fades away like he was just a dream. Simpson finally gives a hopeful smile as she watches the couple in love and the video cuts to a last shot of the trees.
